Our Wheels

When I first started riding as Steven's passenger on our motorbike, I was a bit skittish, punctuating the rides with shouts of "Ah!" and "Oh, Jesus!" Having been witness to Steven's initial drives in Thailand and knowing his penchant for speed over caution, there were times that I feared for my safety. But since Steven has gained more experience on the roads, my confidence has grown such that I enjoy riding with him as much as I enjoy riding with the xe om drivers.

In his first weeks, Steven narrated our rides with a more-or-less running commentary, "Did you see that?! Ha, ha, ha! Got to stay with the pack, baby, stay with the pack. Oh, did you see that pick?! That was brilliant!" He was quite proud of his progress, as was I. Having the motorbike has given us a great deal of freedom and we enjoy just being able to get on and go.

Now my only concern is when Steven says, "When in Rome..." or "Hold on Baby!" which usually precedes a ride on the sidewalk...
