We left Bangkok after three days and took an overnight train/bus/ferry combo to Koh Samui, one of Thailand's largest islands in the Gulf of Thailand. Luck was with us and we managed to find an available bungalow at the beach of our choice - just $15 and mere steps from the water. We contemplated never leaving at least once a day.
